Jiuhou lei

Jiuhou Lei (HAO), The principal goal of the past year (Sep 2005-Aug 2006) is to validate and improve the NCAR TIEGCM model, and also try to understand the involved mechanism of some physical process. The long-term incoherent scatter radar observations at Millstone Hill, St. Stain, MU and Arecibo are used in this study.  The ISR data have been used to drive the heat flux and O+ flux at the upper boundary to replace the default upper boundary condition. On the basis of the comparison, many interesting features are found. The results have been present at the 36th COSPAR meeting and two papers about this study have been submitted to JGR. This study can lead to the identification of its strengths and what's missing in the TIEGCM model.
